I've been MIA...

Yesterday, I just didn't blog. I have been having to share my laptop with my DH lately. His is terminal and going to the Doctor, hoping for a miracle. It amazes me how much these stinkin' things cost and how short they actually "live" His is just over 3 years old and he thinks the hard drive is fried. He can buy another one and put it in himself but doesnt want to spend the money on it unless he is sure that is it. So it is off to the repair shop for a diagnosis. Meanwhile, he has attached himself to mine, "Researching" the problem and looking for solutions. That has to take priority since he is "trying to save us money by fixing it himself. Can you sense some frustration in my "voice" (or keystrokes, LOL)? Meanwhile we have been really digging our new subscription to NetFlix. My SIL suggested we try it out. We had three movies yesterday and two of them went back this morning which means we should get two more on Tues. Last night, I watched "Amazing Grace". It was a little slow but a great movie about the fight of William Wilberforce to abolish slavery in England in the late 1700's. He was a member of the British parliament and a Christian who was influenced by the minister who wrote the hymn of the same name. The minister was a slave ship captain that had accepted Jesus Christ and was racked by the guilt of his past. It was a historical account but was well-written and well-acted. This morning the kids and I watched "Evan Almighty". This is a movie that my DD had seen previews for and requested. I was hesitant because of the subject matter and PG rating but my BIL said it was okay. We really enjoyed it. It was very comical but also had a great lesson. I had a lot of 'splaining to do (doing my best Ricky Ricardo imitation) about the fact that it was a made up story and that the actor was suppose to represent God and was not "really him". It was meant to show that God is still active in today's world and that regardless of the criticism we get from the world, if God gives you a task, He equips you to do it. My favorite part was when God (acted by Morgan Freeman) told Evan's wife that when you pray for Patience, God doesn't give you patience, he gives you opportunities to become patient. When you pray to change the world, God gives you opportunities to make changes. The world isn't changed overnight but with Acts of Random Kindness...ARK...get it? Anyway, it was a clean movie and had a good message but was not a "Christian" movie by any means. I totally "Got It" and my kids loved the animals and the pratfalls and sillyness. Anyhow, that is what I've been up to. Hope you all have a great weekend!
